Job Summary
Head of Hardware to lead our hardware engineering efforts at an AI startup, overseeing RTL development and chip design, establishing validation and benchmarking frameworks, and serving as the technical authority for ML engineers. Responsibilities include mentoring founding hardware engineers, driving client engagements to translate requirements into specifications, guiding the design transition from tool development to production-ready hardware, and shaping the overall hardware strategy. The role emphasizes leadership of cross-functional teams, collaboration with ML teams, and delivering high-quality hardware blocks in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years in hardware design and verification
- experience leading RTL development teams
- tapeouts experience
- deep expertise in RTL design (Verilog/SystemVerilog)
- synthesis and verification methodologies (UVM preferred)
- leadership of complex chip design projects
- ability to drive technical strategy in a fast-paced environment
- ability to mentor engineers
- strong communication skills
- experience with machine learning concepts and their application to hardware design
- Python programming skills for scripting, automation, and tool development
- familiarity with AI hardware architectures (TPUs, GPUs) and their design/verification challenges
- experience with EDA tools (Synopsys, Cadence) and formal verification techniques
- experience collaborating with ML teams or MLOps practices for model validation
