Job Summary
Head of Government Affairs leading Picogrid’s federal-level strategy and external engagement. Owns and executes the government affairs plan with Congress, OSD, military services, and interagency stakeholders; shapes policy positions on export controls, open architecture standards, and technology competition; drives defense budget alignment and program priorities; translates advanced defense tech into compelling policy narratives for policymakers; advises the CEO and leadership team, represents Picogrid at hearings and industry events, and builds an internal team, advisory network, and coalitions with defense partners. Requires ability to operate across Capitol Hill and the Pentagon, manage internal resources and external consultants, develop strategic policy communications, and travel to DC and other engagements; relocation assistance provided and role involves significant leadership responsibility at a high-growth defense technology company.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience in government affairs, defense policy, congressional affairs, or related roles
- Experience building out a Government Affairs function and team at a high growth technology company
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex technical capabilities into accessible, compelling policy narratives
- Comfort operating as a founder-minded, high-ownership individual contributor
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; executive presence and credibility with senior government officials
- Willingness to travel regularly between El Segundo and Washington, DC, and to attend field and customer engagements as needed.
