Job Summary
Head of Engineering leads multidisciplinary teams (hardware and software) to define strategy, priorities, and execution plans for space systems. You will scale an engineering organization, recruit and mentor talent, drive program execution from design to deployment, collaborate with manufacturing/operations, establish technical standards for quality and reliability, manage competing priorities across programs, support field deployments and mission operations, and communicate with customers, partners, investors, and other stakeholders. The role emphasizes hands-on leadership in a high-growth space startup, building scalable processes and a culture of accountability and continuous improvement while shaping the technology roadmap for cislunar, lunar, and deep-space initiatives.
Required Qualifications
- 7+ years engineering experience in space/aerospace/defense/robotics/advanced hardware or related
- Experience leading engineering teams in startup or high-growth environments
- Proven track record delivering complex technical products from concept through deployment
- Experience building and scaling engineering organizations and leadership structures
- Strong systems engineering and multidisciplinary product development understanding
- Ability to make technical and business decisions in fast-moving environments
- Experience managing programs with aggressive schedules and evolving requirements
- Strong communication skills with cross-functional stakeholders
- Experience working with founders/executives
