Job Summary
Head of Engineering leading engineering delivery across Product PODs, building and scaling high-performing teams in a cloud-native, API-first environment. You will own engineering standards, governance, tooling and best practices, drive CI/CD and automation, oversee onshore and offshore delivery, and align technical delivery with business priorities. The role emphasizes improving KPIs (velocity, deployment frequency, cycle time, quality, reliability), ensuring scalable and secure digital products, and leveraging AI-enabled engineering to boost speed and developer productivity. You will collaborate with Product, Delivery and Architecture leaders to translate strategy into executable outcomes and shape engineering capability across DERTOUR UK.
Required Qualifications
- Senior engineering leader with extensive experience building, scaling and managing high-performing engineering teams in complex, customer-facing digital environments
- Strong leadership experience across software engineering teams, ideally within travel, e-commerce, consumer digital or another high-volume sector
- Deep knowledge of modern software engineering practices, including microservices, API-first design and cloud-native platforms such as Azure, AWS or GCP
- Proven experience delivering at scale across multiple engineering teams within a product-led operating model
- Experience managing distributed delivery teams, including onshore and offshore resources
- Strong DevOps capability, including CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure-as-code and automated testing frameworks
- A solid understanding of data-driven and API-led ecosystems
- Experience using AI-assisted engineering, automation, advanced tooling or analytics platforms to improve productivity and delivery
- Significant experience working in Agile or Product POD-based structures
- The ability to operate both strategically and operationally, translating business priorities into clear engineering outcomes
- Collaborative and pragmatic leadership, comfortable influencing at senior levels while staying close to delivery
- Focus on accountability, continuous improvement, innovation and engineering excellence
- Experience in travel, e-commerce, or high-volume consumer digital environments preferred
- Ability to shape engineering capability across DERTOUR UK and partner with product, delivery and architecture teams
