Head of Department Animation and Game Design

Head of Department, Animation and Game Design at JMC Academy Brisbane leads academic and operational leadership for Animation and Game Design courses on campus, overseeing teaching excellence, student experience, course outcomes, compliance, and day-to-day operation of the department. The role manages Senior Lecturers, Lecturers and contractors/sessional staff, coordinates local resources and budgets, ensures alignment with national course standards and the Higher Education Standards Framework, and champions inclusive curriculum. It involves shaping course review and development, overseeing assessment moderation, coordinating curriculum improvements, and building strategic industry alliances, placement programs and live briefs while supporting recruitment, marketing and outreach for the course locally. The position forms part of the campus academic leadership team and collaborates with Campus Directors on operational matters. The role requires a master’s degree or higher in a related field, minimum 5 years of leadership experience in higher education, strong commercial and budget acumen, and demonstrated ability to lead academic teams, ensure curriculum currency, and drive quality assurance and student outcomes.
