Job Summary
Head of Cybersecurity, an influential leadership role responsible for owning Emesent’s cybersecurity posture and defining a coherent enterprise-wide program across product and business systems. Lead governance, risk, and assurance, certification readiness (CMMC Level 2, NIST SP 800-171, Australian ISM/Essential Eight/DISP, ISO/IEC 27001), and engagement with external assessors and audit partners. Drive alignment with Product, Engineering and IT leadership, translate security activity into enterprise risk insights for the board, and build a security-aware culture through capability building and cross-functional communities. The ideal candidate has 10+ years in cybersecurity GRC, experience with regulated industries (defense/critical infrastructure), a track record in security certification/audit readiness, and Australian citizenship with security clearance eligibility. This role shapes Emesent’s ability to operate in Defence and other regulated markets and requires pragmatic security leadership without direct delivery authority.
Required Qualifications
- Australian citizenship and eligibility for security clearance
- 10 years’ experience in cybersecurity governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) leadership
- Experience in regulated industries, ideally Defence or critical infrastructure
- Proven track record supporting or leading organisations through security certification or audit readiness
- Background in complex technology and engineering product development across both software and hardware
- Strong people leadership and influencing skills to drive cultural change
- Experience communicating security posture to executive/board levels
