Job Summary
Review and edit three daily newsletters (AI, Tech, Robotics) and provide direct coaching on structure, angle, and voice for writers. Enforce brand voice consistency across social posts, guides, takeovers, and show content while maintaining and evolving voice guidelines. Lead editorial standards for sponsored newsletter takeovers and push back on weak sponsor submissions. Build the content team by designing org structure, recruiting top editorial talent end-to-end, and running 1:1s to develop and retain staff. Scale the media ecosystem from three newsletters into a full portfolio of shows and formats by establishing repeatable editorial systems. Report directly to the CEO, run weekly editorial syncs to track KPIs and surface bottlenecks, and bring new ideas to leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Senior editor or managing editor experience at a publication, newsletter, or media brand
- Ability to diagnose what's wrong with a draft in 30 seconds and articulate the fix clearly
- Daily use of AI tools to research, draft, fact-check, and ship faster
- Ability to tell immediately when a piece was AI-generated and poorly edited
- Knowledge of how to fix AI-generated content
- Strong opinions about AI coverage and ability to distinguish between genuinely important AI news and hype
- Ability to write in someone else's voice
- Ability to teach others to write in a specific voice
- Ability to hold the line on consistency across a team
- Excitement about designing new content formats

- Experience recruiting, hiring, and developing writers, editors, and producers
- Experience running editorial hiring pipeline end-to-end including JDs, sourcing, screening, interviews, take-home tests, and close
- Experience running 1:1s, giving hard feedback, setting performance expectations, and owning onboarding
- Experience leading weekly editorial syncs, tracking KPIs, surfacing bottlenecks, and bringing new ideas to leadership
- Experience scaling media ecosystems from three newsletters to a full portfolio of shows and formats
- Experience creating repeatable editorial systems and flywheels that compound across content ecosystems
- Experience owning org design for editorial teams
- Experience deciding what roles are needed, when they are needed, and what reporting lines look like
- Experience partnering with ops to run editorial hiring pipelines
- Experience pushing back on weak sponsor submissions and guiding them toward content audiences will read
- Experience ensuring social posts, guides, newsletters, takeovers, and show content sound and look like one publication
- Experience maintaining and evolving voice guidelines as formats are added
- Experience reviewing and editing AI, Tech, and Robotics newsletters daily
- Experience giving direct, specific feedback to writers on structure, angle, and voice
- Experience building teams across editorial, video, and short-form
- Experience leading a team of 8-12+ across editorial, video, and short-form
- Experience reporting directly to a CEO
- Experience running weekly calls
- Experience scaling media ecosystems from three newsletters into a full portfolio of shows and formats
