Head of Compliance (iGaming & Sports Betting)

Job Summary
Design, lead, and evolve the compliance framework aligned with the National Gambling Act, provincial requirements, and AML/KYC legislation. Serve as the primary regulatory interface by managing licence applications, renewals, and reporting obligations while advising executive leadership on legislative developments. Oversee AML/KYC programmes, establish monitoring controls, and coordinate regulatory audits and inspections to ensure accurate responses. Partner with Product, Marketing, and Commercial teams to embed compliance-by-design principles and lead company-wide training on responsible gambling. Promote a culture of integrity and proactive regulatory engagement to safeguard the organisation's licences and minimise regulatory exposure.
Required Qualifications
- 5–8+ years experience in compliance roles within gambling, financial services, fintech, or similarly regulated industries
- Minimum 3 years in a senior compliance leadership role within South Africa
- Proven experience working directly with South African regulatory authorities and licensing bodies
- Deep knowledge of the National Gambling Act, provincial gambling legislation, AML/KYC regulations, and FICA requirements
- Strong project management and cross-functional leadership capability
- Exceptional ability to interpret complex legislation and translate requirements into practical operational frameworks
- High levels of integrity, discretion, and ethical judgement
- Strong communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to operate effectively in high-pressure, highly regulated environments
