Job Summary
Senior leader responsible for shaping and leading communications and engagement activity on behalf of the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC). Lead internal and external news and PR, generate positive media coverage, raise internal awareness, and develop/implement communications strategies aligned with Suffolk’s Police and Crime Plan. Provide specialist communications advice to the PCC and OPCC officers; engage with communities, partners, elected representatives, the media, officers and staff; ensure the OPCC’s work is presented clearly and transparently to the public and stakeholders. The role requires strong knowledge of the media landscape, public sector communications, digital communications and audience engagement, with a focus on governance, transparency and public accountability.
Required Qualifications
- Strong understanding of the media landscape (local, regional, national)
- Knowledge of public sector communications (ideally policing or criminal justice)
- Understanding of digital communications, social media and audience engagement
- Awareness of governance, transparency and public accountability requirements
