Job Summary
Head of Cloud Modernisation leads TAL’s enterprise-wide shift from legacy systems to a modern cloud-based Microsoft ecosystem, directing end-to-end application migration, governance forums, and risk management. The role partners with Executive Leadership and key vendors (notably Microsoft) to drive migration planning, alignment with cloud architecture, data strategy, and AI enablement, while ensuring business readiness, adoption, continuity, and value realization across multiple portfolios. The position requires senior-level engagement with stakeholders, governance oversight, and delivering measurable outcomes through large-scale, multi-stream transformation programs. The work emphasizes cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, AWS), platform engineering, regulatory alignment, and ongoing collaboration with strategic delivery partners to accelerate cloud adoption. This is a hybrid-setup based in Sydney, Australia, with a focus on leading cross-functional teams and executive governance to achieve scalable, data-driven outcomes for TAL’s insurance industry leadership.
Required Qualifications
- Experience leading end-to-end application migration strategy and execution
- Ability to establish and lead executive governance forums (e.g., SteerCo)
- Experience managing migration risks (operational, regulatory, customer impact)
- Proven ability to engage with major vendors (e.g., Microsoft) and deliver through partnerships
- Understanding of cloud platforms and architecture (Azure, AWS)
- Experience across application modernisation, data platforms and AI enablement
- Proven track record managing large, multi-stream delivery programs
- Senior-executive level communication and stakeholder management
- Strong background in cloud modernisation and platform transformation initiatives
- Experience in aligning technology strategy with business objectives
