Job Summary
Head of Claims will lead a 30+-person claims team and drive an AI-first claims function at Outdoorsy Group's Roamly and Ride.Auto platforms in Austin. Responsibilities include overseeing FNOL categorization and digital claim filing, transferring data from external platforms to core systems, managing vendor relationships with independent adjusters, legal counsel, and repair networks, establishing and monitoring KPIs (cycle times, reserve accuracy, subrogation), ensuring compliance with state regulations and underwriting guidelines, and collaborating with Underwriting and Product to refine risk features for RV, auto, and P2P/mar ketplace lines. The role requires a tech-forward mindset with experience building or architecting proprietary claims software and automation, and a leadership track record managing 30+ headcount while delivering customer-centric outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive insurance claims experience
- 3–5 years in a significant leadership role overseeing mid-to-large teams (30+ headcount)
- Strong background in Personal/Commercial Auto or Specialized Property lines
- Experience with proprietary claims software and automation solutions
- Analytical, data-driven decision-maker with ability to translate claims data into business strategies
- Location: able to work from Austin, TX office
