Job Summary
Head of Circulation at the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library directs Circulation Staff at the Zionsville location, oversees staff scheduling and performance reviews, supports public service desks, processes holds, facilitates patron engagement, and leads community-building efforts. The role requires flexibility, effective customer service, and collaboration with staff across locations. Responsibilities include supervising staff, managing workflow and operations for circulation/public service, assisting with interviews and training, supporting patrons with reference and readers’ advisory services, guiding patrons in using the integrated library system and digital tools, and pursuing relevant grants to enhance services. The position emphasizes leadership, team development, and a positive library experience for patrons, with duties spanning displays, programming promotion, and cross-training for coverage. Preferred qualifications include strong technical proficiency, experience with grants, and prior library public-facing work.
Required Qualifications
- Indiana Public Library Certification Level 3 or above (or the ability to obtain a temporary permit or certification within 6 months of hire)
- Supervisory Experience (3-4 years)
- Valid IN Driver's License (or the ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire)
- Bachelor’s or associate degree.
- Minimum of three years of supervisor experience.
