Head of Church Accounting & Bookkeeping

Job Summary
Develop and implement strategies to optimize financial systems and services in alignment with business goals and client needs. Analyze bookkeeping, payroll, spend management, and bill pay processes to forecast resource requirements and anticipate staffing needs. Lead the development of tools and systems to track resource allocation while providing guidance to team members in the bookkeeping and accounting divisions. Monitor key performance indicators related to labor and capacity utilization, proactively addressing deviations from targets. Manage month-end, quarter-end, and payroll functions for large church and non-profit clients.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field, OR equivalent experience
- Proven experience in accounting; financial management, budget and cash flow management for a church or church-adjacent organization
- Strong analytical skills with GAAP accounting principles; monthly/quarterly-end reporting, the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions
- Experience managing Bookkeepers, Accountants, and Financial/Operations team members and providing guidance as needed
- Exceptional leadership and communication skills
- Experience with Accounting software such as Quickbooks; Bill.com; Xero.com; etc
- Expert experience with Excel
