Head of Business Unit - Software & Electronics

Job Summary
Own the strategy, budget, and organizational design for the Software & Electronics business unit, making trade-off calls between technical ambition and delivery reality across active vehicle programs. Drive cross-functional delivery with vehicle programs, manufacturing, and supply chain to ensure E/E and software commitments align with hardware and production timelines. Mature the software release process by automating build, packaging, and OTA delivery while reducing manual dependency as fleet volume grows. Oversee E/E architecture, low-voltage electronics, and functional safety compliance to maintain homologation across EU and US markets without bottlenecks. Build and retain high-performing engineering teams across embedded, infotainment, and connected services disciplines in a low-volume, high-complexity environment. Report progress, risk, and key technical decisions directly to executive management.
Required Qualifications
- Experience leading automotive software, electronics or systems engineering teams end to end
- Experience through both program delivery and organizational scaling
- A degree in engineering, business administration or a related field, or equivalent depth gained on the job
Desired Qualifications
- Direct experience with vehicle software release processes
- Direct experience with OTA / connected-vehicle systems
- Direct experience with functional safety (ISO 26262 or equivalent)
- Experience owning a P&L or business unit budget
- Experience operating in a low-volume, high-complexity environment - motorsport, hypercar, aerospace or similar
- Ability to hold a technical argument with engineers and a commercial argument with executive management in the same week
