Job Summary
Head of Biology leading the translation of biological requirements into data-driven modeling and experimental workflows. Own the active learning loop between Output's biology-focused models and laboratory validation, manage CRO partnerships for peptide and molecular synthesis, design experiments, interpret results, and drive model development. Collaborate with engineering to build biology-specific agent skills and workflows, ensure model outputs are informed by experimental findings, stay current with relevant literature, and guide strategic opportunities across protein biology, peptides, and drug-discovery contexts.
Required Qualifications
- PhD in computational biology, biophysics, structural biology, molecular biology, or a related biological field
- 3+ years of post-doctoral or industry research experience
- deep understanding of protein biology, protein-ligand interactions, and sequence-structure–function relationships
- experience designing biological experiments and working with CROs for synthesis and validation
- experience with protein language models or machine learning applied to biological sequences and structures
- strong programming skills in Python and building computational pipelines for analysis
- ability to translate biological requirements into modeling priorities and to guide experimental decision-making
