Job Summary
Open the pool daily and ensure it functions properly while maintaining compliance with YMCA safety policies and NYS Health Department codes. Enforce aquatic regulations regarding food, drink, and conduct to safeguard every individual in and around the facility. Monitor pool and spa chemicals, verify sanitary conditions, and maintain accurate records as required. Mentor staff, assist with scheduling to meet safety ratios, and step in during shortages. Lead by example while delivering excellent member service and attending all required trainings. Maintain current certifications and emergency procedure knowledge.
Required Qualifications
- At least 18 years old
- High school graduate
- At least one-year lifeguarding experience
- Current YMCA or Red Cross Lifeguarding certification
- CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer certification
- First Aid Certification
- O2 Administration certification
- YMCA Lifeguarding Instructor Certification or ability to obtain it within 60 days of employment
- WSI and ability to obtain YMCA certification within 60 days
- Good communication skills to deliver excellent member service
