Job Summary
Supervise lifeguards and enforce safety rules for patrons in indoor and outdoor pools while maintaining facility cleanliness and chemical levels. Manage monthly schedules, rotations, and replacements for staff; monitor guard stands, safety equipment, and professional conduct. Conduct in-service training, appraise lifeguard competency, and maintain records including incident reports, work hour logs, and inventory. Perform rescue skills at audit quality levels and assist with special events, rentals, and pre-season facility openings. Work evenings, weekends, and various shifts under the Aquatics Supervisor.
Required Qualifications
- 1-year related work experience
- Must be 17 years of age
- American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification (including CPR/AED, First Aid, Oxygen Administration and Water park)
- Knowledge of pool safety, how to be proactive about accidents and the appropriate methods and techniques for providing on-site emergency medical services
- Knowledge of on-site protocols, operational procedures, and safety policies
- Work requires the ability to read, write and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos
- Work requires the ability to demonstrate professional public relations skills, effective interpersonal skills and ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations
- Work requires the ability to pass rescue skills and first aid proficiency test as well as swim for long distances, minimum 300 yards
- Work requires the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to compute rate, ratio, and percentage
- Work requires the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions, ability to deal with problems and to manage large numbers of part-time staff
- Must pass all post offer pre-employment processes and/or procedures, to include but not limited to Drug Screen, Physical Examination, and applicable Background Checks
- Ability to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends
Desired Qualifications
- Lifeguard Instructor (LGI) license is preferred, but not required
