Job Summary
Maintain a safe aquatic environment by positioning to have a full view of the area, scanning every 5 to 10 seconds, and ensuring contact with any victim within 10 seconds. Perform appropriate rescues, administer First Aid, CPR, AED, or oxygen as necessary, and remain within 2 feet of the pool at all times. Report facility hazards, unsafe pool conditions, or mechanical problems to the Aquatic Director/Coordinator immediately. Supervise Aquatic Staff in the absence of the Director to enforce policies and manage pump room operations, including chemical levels and water clarity. Interact professionally with members and participants, resolving problems directly or escalating unresolved issues. Work part-time 2-3 weekdays from 4:30am-10:00am and weekends.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum age of 18 years of age
- Minimum 2 years' experience as a lifeguard
- Current YMCA or American Red Cross Lifeguard Training (must crossover to YMCA in 6 months)
- Current First Aid for Public Safety Personnel and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute
- Current CPR PRO/AED and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute
- Current O2 certification and must be from one of the following certifying organizations: American Red Cross, American Heart Association or American Safety & Health Institute
- Current CPO certification within 60 days of employment
- Must pass written and practical skills prior to duty
- Must be available 2-3 weekdays from 4:30am-10:00am and weekends
Desired Qualifications
- Previous experience in supervision of staff preferred
