Job Summary
Head Librarian leading JBI Library’s patron services, programming, collection development, ILS management, community outreach, and library operations; oversees budget, staff, volunteers, and strategic initiatives; collaborates with executive leadership to advance accessibility and inclusion, develop innovative programs, and expand membership; ensures high-quality accessible materials and services, including collaboration with the Production Department for braille, large print, and audio formats; engages with patrons, synagogues, schools, and community organizations; focuses on data-driven planning, reporting, and continuous improvement in a nonprofit library setting.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in library science (MLS/MLIS)
- Minimum of 5 years of professional library experience, with progressively responsible experience
- at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role
- Experience or knowledge of accessible literacy and disability culture
- Familiarity with an ILS
- Exceptional communication, relationship-building, writing, collaboration, and problem-solving skills
- Passion for books, helping people, disability inclusion, lifelong learning, and community engagement
