Job Summary
Implement school athletic policies and interpret state regulations for staff, while establishing program philosophy and conducting staff evaluations. Manage scheduling, transportation, and tournament logistics; direct student managers and ensure compliance with physical exam and parental consent requirements. Provide daily supervision at practices and games, handle disciplinary due process, and coordinate with maintenance for facility safety and cleanliness. Oversee equipment inventory, storage, and reconditioning, and maintain relationships with media, parents, and the booster club. Assist athletes in college selection and participate in seasonal budgeting.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of all the Athletic Policies approved by the Catawba County Schools Board of Education
- Knowledge of existing school system, state, and conference regulations
- Understanding of the proper administrative line of command
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, staff, parents, and the community
- Must possess administrative and organizational skills
- Thorough knowledge of Catawba County Schools athletic policy and procedure
- Thorough knowledge of the North Carolina Administrative Code and Statutes
- Teacher license
- Employment as a teacher by the Catawba County Board of Education
- Previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport
Desired Qualifications
- Teacher license and employment as a teacher by the Catawba County Board of Education is strongly preferred
