Job Summary
Educate and coach Kent Place student-athletes in field hockey, instructing players individually or in groups on rules, regulations, equipment, and techniques. Plan practice sessions and competition strategies to ensure the health and physical well-being of student-athletes while observing them during competition to determine needs for individual or team improvement. Determine game strategy based on the team's capabilities and maintain individual and team records and statistics. Schedule and coordinate game schedules, practice schedules, tryouts, and conditioning sessions with the Assistant Athletic Director, while supervising student-athletes at practices, games, and on school-provided transportation. Promote positive attitudes, good sportsmanship, and diversity and inclusion by modeling appropriate conduct toward players, officials, and spectators. Act as a team representative to communicate with the news media and other stakeholders, and participate in special activities including senior day, parents' night, and coaching clinics.
Required Qualifications
- experience at the high school level
- Must have excellent communication and administrative skills
- Effective, active listening skills
- Have the ability to make quick decisions under pressure
- Ability to work effectively with others
- Adhere to best practices of diversity and inclusion so that interactions with students, colleagues, and other constituencies highlight awareness, competence, and sensitivity
- Complete all coaching accreditation modules and KPS training
- Attends a mandatory preseason parent meeting and training session with the Athletic Dept
- Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials, and spectators
- Promotes good public relations through professional standards of conduct and presentation, as well as professional courtesy
Desired Qualifications
- Prior coaching/playing experience at the collegiate level preferred
