Job Summary
Direct the planning, direction, and execution of all housekeeping and laundry department activities, ensuring professional standards and highest levels of service. Supervise staff daily, conduct performance evaluations, manage promotions, and oversee training in guest room cleaning, public area sanitation, safety, and equipment use. Prepare daily room assignments, plan work schedules, and conduct stand-up and monthly meetings. Inspect work to meet brand specifications, investigate service complaints, and balance daily reports with the front desk. Maintain inventory, forecast staffing levels, and ensure all safety, security, and OSHA guidelines are followed. Perform cleaning duties as needed, manage key control, and coordinate with other departments to resolve room repairs and maximize occupancy efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to communicate with hotel staff, guests, and management in a professional manner
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays
- Read, write and speak English
- Ability to learn safety, emergency, and accident prevention policies and procedures
- Neat, well-groomed appearance including wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working (per brand standards)
- High school education
- Complete the housekeeping training program within the brand required time frame
- Possess a positive and upbeat personality with a desire to deliver outstanding customer service to our guests
- Maintain the highest level of confidentiality in all areas
- Demonstrate the ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented and be able to problem-solve, to effectively deal with internal and external customers
- Ability to perform basic math, and understand financial information
- Ability to communicate well with others, effectively deal with guests and accept constructive criticism
- Must be able to change activity frequently and cope with interruptions
- Lift up to 25 pounds occasionally, lift up to 50 pounds from time to time
- Stand, walk; use hands and fingers to handle, or feel, for long periods, up to 8 hours at a time
- Reach with hands and arms
- Walk, navigate stairs regularly
- Continuously repeat the same movements, including bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, pulling, pushing, stretching
