Job Summary

Lead the planning, maintenance, and development of gardens, lawns, borders, woodland, orchards, and landscaped areas across Home Park, ensuring high horticultural standards and sustainable practices. Motivate and develop the team, set clear expectations, and manage machinery, equipment, and horticultural assets to ensure safety and compliance. Plan and deliver annual and long-term work programmes, oversee planting schemes, manage contractors and suppliers, and collaborate with colleagues across the Estate. Contribute to budget planning, biodiversity initiatives, and stakeholder engagement while maintaining health and safety standards. Carry out outdoor duties in all weather conditions and respond quickly to incidents outside normal working hours. Accommodation is provided to support the role's requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • A relevant horticultural qualification, such as HND, ND/NVQ Level 3 or RHS Level 3, with proven experience or equivalent practical expertise
  • Proven experience managing gardens, estates, parks or historic landscapes
  • Strong horticultural knowledge, including plant science, garden design principles and grounds maintenance
  • Experience planning and delivering operational work programmes
  • Proven people management capability, including performance management and team development
  • Experience managing contractors and monitoring delivery against safety, quality and performance standards
  • Strong understanding of land-based health and safety practices, including risk assessments and safe systems of work
  • A full manual driving licence
  • Emergency First Aid at Work certification
  • The ability to carry out outdoor duties in all weather conditions
  • The ability to work flexibly when needed to support seasonal demands, incidents, events and wider Estate priorities
  • The ability to respond quickly to incidents outside normal working hours
  • The ability to maintain the level of security clearance required for the role
  • Standard BPSS checks
