Job Summary
Head Drama Director for Cheney High School (extracurricular, after-school commitment ~2 hours/day). Teach the fundamentals of drama, serve as drama club advisor, manage the drama program budget, obtain rights to shows, create and maintain sets, and develop promotional materials. Coordinate space with music program and Athletics/Activities, facilitate rehearsals, communicate regularly with Athletics and Activities Director, and ensure compliance with state/district requirements. Responsibilities include supervising students, fostering positive learning/playing experiences, and conducting staff conferences/meetings while continuously updating techniques and skills. Compensation is $6,000 per year paid across Sept–May; eligibility for medical/dental/vision/life insurance after 630 hours. Qualifications include current first aid/CPR, background clearance, ability to obtain Type II CDL (training provided), and demonstrated knowledge of drama fundamentals as well as ability to organize/supervise and communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and the community. The role emphasizes ethical conduct and coordination with school leadership and the broader district.
Required Qualifications
- Current first aid/CPR card
- WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance
- Ability and willingness to obtain Type II Commercial Driver’s license (training provided)
- Demonstrated knowledge of fundamentals of drama
- Demonstrated ability to organize and supervise a total activity program
- Ability to organize and demonstrate skills to both assistants and students
- Ability to communicate in a positive manner with students, parents, staff, the community, and the media
- Ability to motivate a variety of individual personalities toward a successful and positive learning/playing experience
- Model appropriate behavior to students and spectators
