Job Summary
Inspect and maintain the appearance of buildings, grounds, and parking areas daily. Scrub, dust, sweep, mop, wax, and polish floors; wash windows, woodwork, walls, and restroom fixtures. Replenish tissues, towels, and soap; replace light bulbs; empty wastebaskets; and sort materials for recycling. Report damages requiring repairs and request custodial supplies monthly from the warehouse. Assist the Custodial Manager in controlling supply usage, inventories, and training newly hired staff. Perform minor maintenance tasks and minor changes to procedures as needed.
Required Qualifications
- Some experience in institutional housekeeping
- Working knowledge of Rowan-Salisbury Schools cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- Skills and knowledge in the use of custodial equipment used in routine cleaning
- Ability to maintain positive working relations
- Ability to understand and follow simple oral or written directions
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Registered Technician Card for pesticide application
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to lift more than 50 pounds with assistance
- Must be able to climb ladders up to 2 feet
- Must be able to bend
- Must be able to squat
- Must be able to twist
- Must be able to kneel
- Must be able to crouch
- Must be able to stand on feet for extended periods of time
- Must be able to walk backwards
- Must be able to perform minor maintenance to buildings
- Must be able to introduce minor changes in procedures
- Must be able to solve simple problems
