Job Summary
Head Custodian lead supervisory role overseeing custodial staff and the cleaning, sanitation, safety, and maintenance of school facilities. Responsibilities include planning and directing custodial work, managing supplies and budget, coordinating building use for events, ensuring safety and compliance (MSDS/OSHA), training staff on procedures, performing routine inspections and drills (fire, tornado, lockdown), and maintaining building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical) along with grounds upkeep. Requires high school diploma or GED, NC driver’s license, computer experience, and strong ability to supervise and communicate—both orally and in writing. The role emphasizes leadership over custodial operations and facility maintenance under the Principal’s direction.
