Job Summary
Head Custodian responsibilities include supervising custodians and housekeepers, taking the lead on essential cleaning tasks (sweeping, scrubbing, floor care), preparing and managing work schedules for the campus, opening/closing buildings, monitoring heating systems, ensuring cleanliness and proper use of equipment, performing minor building repairs, loading/unloading with drivers, and maintaining records. The role requires on-call availability (24 hours), adherence to professional ethics and school board policies, and collaboration with staff to improve service quality and operational efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency preferred
- Ability to lead and supervise a group of people in completing custodial tasks as a team
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment, and ability to use them economically and efficiently
- Physical and mental stamina and ability to perform job functions, tasks and duties
- Reports to Principal and/or Custodial Supervisor
- Supervises Custodians and Housekeepers
