Job Summary
Head Custodian responsible for supervising custodians, coordinating maintenance programs, and enforcing safety and district policies. Duties include instructing custodians, monitoring performance, documenting progress, scheduling extra duties, maintaining inventory, performing routine cleaning, preventive maintenance, minor electrical/plumbing/air conditioning repairs, assisting public with directions, and maintaining security and records. Requires strong custodial knowledge, ability to supervise staff, driver’s license, and high school level education; 18+ with at least one year building-level experience. Works full-time, term of employment aligned to the school year; physical stamina for lifting up to 90 pounds, working indoors/outdoors, and operating maintenance equipment.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED preferred
- Must be 18 years old
- Appropriate technical training beyond high school
- Thorough knowledge of proper custodial procedures
- Ability to manage and instruct custodial personnel
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationship with subordinates, foremen and management
- Must have at least one year of building level experience
- Must possess a valid driver’s license
