Job Summary
Head Coach for Upper School Girls Varsity Water Polo leads instruction and development of players, overseeing fundamental skills, strategies, and physical training to achieve individual and team success. Oversees practices, competitions, tournaments, and team travel; coordinates with Middle School Athletics Director and Director of Athletics on administrative tasks (uniforms/equipment, transportation, game scheduling, referees scheduling, and other duties). Attends coaches’ meetings, preseason parents meetings, and seasonal coaches’ meetings; organizes end-of-season player meetings and post-season awards. Maintains ongoing professional development, collaborates with the athletic trainer, and supports the school athletics goals. Requires strong leadership, integrity, and a commitment to the castilleja Athletics program; includes time tracking, adherence to policies, and overtime when required. CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain, LiveScan background check, valid CA driver’s license, and ability to transport student athletes by school vans. This is a seasonal, part-time, non-exempt role with compensation per hour and seasonal schedule.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED equivalent; college degree is preferred
- Minimum of 2 years previous Water Polo Coach Experience
- Water Polo playing experience at a high level
- Proven ability to develop, organize and supervise a successful Water Polo team
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of Water Polo techniques for interscholastic athletics in California
- Ability to model ethics and appropriate behavior
- Ability to collaborate with diverse school community
- Computer skills (Google, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- CPR/First Aid certification or willingness to obtain it
- LiveScan background check
- Clean driving record and California driver’s license
- Ability to transport student athletes by school vans
- Must comply with COVID-19 testing as required
