Job Summary
Recruit qualified student-athletes for the University of Redlands women's flag football program and lead a coaching staff including a part-time assistant. Manage practice, competition, and exhibition scheduling while coordinating travel for contests. Administer the program budget and lead annual fundraising efforts. Ensure full compliance with NCAA Division III, SCIAC conference, and University rules across staff and student-athletes. Teach physical education activity courses based on assigned load and fulfill a collateral departmental administrative assignment. Direct staff work, make hiring and disciplinary decisions, and approve timesheets. Maintain a valid California Class C driver's license and work nights and weekends as required by team schedules.
Required Qualifications
- A bachelor's degree
- The ability to identify and attract outstanding students to the university and to relate effectively with various constituent groups
- A clear understanding of the NCAA Division III philosophy and the role of physical education and athletics within a private, liberal arts academic setting
- A minimum of three (3) years of flag football or football coaching experience
- Previous head coaching experience
- Collegiate coaching experience
- Experience working with diverse constituencies
- Sensitivity to multicultural issues
- The ability to work productively in a collaborative environment to meet deadlines and expectations
- The ability to competently interact with a culturally and ethnically diverse population of students, faculty, and staff
- A valid California Class C CA driver's license with a good driving record
- The ability to communicate effectively and follow instructions, both verbally and in writing
- The aptitude to learn new and evolving technology and recommend ways to improve position's efficiency
- Excellent technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- The ability to operate standard office equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- The ability to recommend appropriate courses of action within established guidelines
- The ability to foster strong, positive relationships and align internal and external resources to achieve university objectives
- The ability to exercise discretion and work with confidentiality
- The ability to lift, carry and/or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds
- Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check)
- Possession of a valid Driver's License
- Passing a pre-employment physical exam with the ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs
