Job Summary
Develop a firm foundation for the junior high girls basketball program through Biblically based instruction, practice planning, and post-competition analysis. Cultivate team unity among players, parents, and assistant coaches while maintaining positive mentoring relationships and enforcing eligibility policies. Supervise locker rooms and buses, manage equipment inventory, and handle injury situations appropriately. Collaborate with the Athletic Director on financial, spiritual, and athletic goals, attend required meetings, and facilitate the preseason parent meeting. Display appropriate conduct during games and practices, maintain professional certification including CPR/1st Aid, and adhere to school, league, and WIAA policies. Work outdoors in various weather conditions and lift equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
Required Qualifications
- Prior coaching experience
- Proven ability to teach and motivate athletes
- First Aid/CPR certification
- Willingness to obtain First Aid/CPR certification
- Personal commitment to Jesus Christ
- Lifestyle that honors God
- Active participation in a local, Bible-believing church
- Willingness to affirm and abide by the Schools' Statement of Faith
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Coaching expertise/knowledge of sport
- Knowledge of motivation, strategies, and tactics
- Ability to supervise assistant coaches and volunteers
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to demonstrate and model sport-specific skills, drills, and techniques
- Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull equipment and supplies weighing up to 25–50 pounds
- Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Physical certification with WIAA
- Continuing education clock hours
- CPR/1st Aid certification
- Ability to effectively monitor multiple student-athletes and activities simultaneously
