Head Coach, Gymnastics

Job Summary

Conduct individual coaching sessions to develop superior gymnastics achievement skills. Plan and schedule regular practice programs, oversee safety conditions, and enforce disciplined, sportsmanlike behavior while establishing breach policies. Manage equipment purchases, maintain attendance forms, and set performance criteria for interscholastic events. Coordinate with administrators for contest scheduling, collaborate with college officials on scholarships and placement, and engage with local media. Enforce school and MIAA regulations regarding eligibility and health. Direct operations for both boys and girls teams, supervise assistants, and report to the Director of Physical Education, Health and Athletics.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor Degree Preferred
  • Teacher Certification Preferred
  • Demonstrated success as a gymnastics athlete and/or coach
  • Demonstrated knowledge of gymnastics techniques
  • aptitude for the following performance responsibilities: Coaching individual participants in the skills necessary for superior achievement in gymnastics
  • Planning and scheduling a regular program of practice in season
  • Working closely with the Administrator of Interscholastic/Intramural Athletics in scheduling of interscholastic contests
  • Recommending purchases of equipment and supplies, if necessary
  • Maintaining necessary attendance forms
  • Overseeing the safety conditions whenever students are present
  • Enforcing disciplined and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and establishing a policy for breach of such standards by athletes
  • Establishing performance criteria for eligible interscholastic competitive events
  • Working with college officials (Scholarship, student placement)
  • Working with local media
  • Enforcing and explaining rules and regulations regarding athletics at Lowell High School as stated in the student Handbook and MIAA Blue Book-E.g. (Attendance Eligibility, Chemical Health)
  • Responsible for operation, direction, and programming for both the boys & girls teams and supervision of the assistants for both teams

Desired Qualifications

  • If not certified, must take and pass MIAA Coaches Education Course
