Job Summary
Head Coach for Girls JV Volleyball in San Jose leads coaching, character development, and direction for student-athletes to develop high skill and discipline. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, and directing the team; instructing skill sets; enforcing team rules and eligibility; conducting tryouts; coordinating with the Athletic Director on off-season training and summer camps; creating a safe learning environment; supervising athletes during practices, games, and transportation; modeling sportsmanship; maintaining professional conduct; and ensuring communication with faculty, parents, and community. Requires 2-3 years coaching experience, a high school diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred), a valid California Class C license with insurance, and a valid driving record. Training obligations include safety training via SafeSchools/NFHS Learn, CPR/First Aid refreshers, and completion of Fundamentals of Coaching or equivalent. The role is seasonal, part-time, non-exempt with a school calendar, and involves significant travel within the Bay Area.
Required Qualifications
- 2 to 3 years of High School or Club Volleyball coaching experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Valid CA license (Class C) and current insurance coverage
- Safe driving record
- Ability to follow policies and mission
- Knowledge of sports rules and regulations
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders
- Access to transportation
- Ability to coach athletes of different skill levels
- Plan, organize, direct and supervise team activities
- Conduct tryouts and inform participants
- Completion of safety training (NFHS Learn) and First Aid
- CPR certification every two years
- Fundamentals of Coaching or equivalent
