Job Summary
Head Chef/Supervisor position in Brooklyn Center for Rehabilitation and Healthcare. Responsibilities include preparation, cooking, and service of a variety of foods; baking rolls, cookies, cakes, and pies; working on the tray line during meal service; general kitchen cleanup; hand washing and sanitizing of pots and pans; and related duties. Requires ServSafe or Sodexo healthcare cooking certification, previous management or supervisory experience, and minimum 2 years of large-scale cooking experience with strong knowledge of large-scale and therapeutic food prep. Must be able to perform physical work and work every other weekend; strong teamwork, excellent customer service and communication skills. Will manage the kitchen in the absence of the food service director. Located in Brooklyn, NY within a 281-bed facility that is part of Centers Health Care network.
Required Qualifications
- Certification in healthcare cooking (ServSafe or Sodexo)
- Previous management or supervisory experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience in large-scale cooking
- Strong knowledge of large scale & therapeutic food prep
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Excellent customer service & communication skills
- Will manage Kitchen in absence of food service director
