Job Summary
Plan and facilitate regular practice sessions focused on stunting, tumbling, jumps, and choreography while directing performances at home basketball games and other school-sanctioned athletic events. Coordinate school spirit initiatives including pep rallies and community events, manage the team budget, and oversee fundraising activities. Ensure all stunting and athletic activities comply with IHSAA safety standards, maintain equipment inventory, and coordinate transportation for away games. Monitor the academic progress of student-athletes to ensure eligibility requirements are met and serve as a positive role model fostering sportsmanship. Maintain regular communication with student-athletes and families regarding schedules and expectations while collaborating with the Athletic Director and campus staff. Requires current CPR/AED and First Aid certification, NFHS Coaching course completion, and ability to work regular evenings and occasional weekends.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of two years of cheer leading coaching experience at the middle school, high school, or collegiate level
- Demonstrated experience in stunt safety and choreography
- Strong knowledge of cheer leading fundamentals, safety protocols, and competitive standards
- Ability to motivate and lead a diverse group of high school students
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Current CPR/AED and First Aid certification
- Completion of NFHS Coaching courses
- Ability to stand, move, and demonstrate cheer movements for extended periods
- Ability to lift or spot student-athletes during stunting activities
- Regular evening and occasional weekend work for games and events
Desired Qualifications
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree
- Experience working in a K-12 school or student-centered environment
