Job Summary
Plan and schedule preventive maintenance, routine repairs, and priority work across assigned buildings and equipment while participating directly in repair tasks as needed. Inspect buildings and grounds regularly to identify maintenance, safety, and operational needs, then maintain and repair heating, cooling, electrical, and mechanical systems including pumps, motors, and water lines. Perform or oversee painting, plumbing, roofing, carpentry, and construction of items such as partitions and bleachers. Estimate project costs, requisition tools and materials, operate shop and power equipment, and support snow removal and ice control operations. Maintain accurate maintenance records and elevate difficult or costly problems with recommended solutions.
Required Qualifications
- Thorough knowledge of building-maintenance practices, tools, and equipment
- Good knowledge of standard construction practices and methods across the building trades
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and mechanical drawings
- Ability to follow oral and written directions
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position
- Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State-registered two-year college with an associate degree in construction or engineering technology
- Two years of building repair and maintenance experience
- Four years of building repair and maintenance experience
- Equivalent combination of training and experience within the limits of the options above
