Job Summary
Implement district athletic policies and enforce state regulations across the high school golf program. Mentor assistant coaches, manage equipment inventory, and coordinate tournament logistics while ensuring facility safety. Serve as a role model for student-athletes by monitoring academic progress, reporting injuries within 24 hours, and supporting post-secondary opportunities. Organize parent meetings, manage media communications, and uphold district values of sportsmanship and character development. This role involves extended hours and decision-making under pressure, with an annual stipend. The Head Boys Golf Coach supports the Waverly-Shell Rock Community School District's athletic mission.
Required Qualifications
- Iowa Coaching Authorization or Coaching Endorsement (BOEE)
- Current certifications: CPR/AED, Concussion in Sports, Heat Illness Prevention
- Strong knowledge of sport-specific rules, techniques, and strategy
- Demonstrated leadership and mentoring abilities
- Understanding of Iowa high school eligibility and safety requirements
Desired Qualifications
- Teaching license or employment in WSR district
- Previous successful coaching experience, especially at the high school level
- Ability to positively engage with a diverse student population and community
