Job Summary
Head Basketball Coach – Men leads the school's basketball program, instructing athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training to achieve individual and team success. Responsibilities include supervising a staff of coaches, enforcing athletic policies, coordinating practice and game schedules, mentoring student athletes, promoting good sportsmanship and character development, and coordinating with the athletic director and principal on program objectives and staff development. The role requires strong leadership, knowledge of game strategy and coaching methods, ability to supervise staff, and commitment to student athletes' academic and personal growth. The position also involves administrative duties, budgeting considerations, and interaction with parents and media as part of promoting the sport within the school community.
Required Qualifications
- Has the ability to organize and supervise a total sports program.
- Has previous successful coaching experience in assigned sport (Major sports).
- Substantial knowledge of the technical aspects of basketball and ongoing study of new theories/practices.
- Must serve as a role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.
- Supervises staff including high school and middle school coaches in conjunction with athletic director and principal.
