Job Summary
Organize and supervise practices while teaching individual fundamental skills, team strategy, and game rules. Promote sports within the schools and community by developing good rapport with players, parents, school personnel, and officials. Check participant eligibility, including insurance coverage and parent consent, and recommend equipment purchases for student welfare. Provide emotional support and guidance to student athletes while demonstrating professionalism and sportsmanship. Assist coaches on assigned sports and conduct learning experiences with small groups of student athletes.
Required Qualifications
- high school diploma, G.E.D. Certificate or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a G.E.D. as required by Kentucky law
- Current CPR/AED certification
- NFHS Coach ED Training
- at least 21 years of age
- Fundamentals of various sports
- Health and safety regulations
- Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy
- Understand and follow oral and written directions
- Read, interpret, apply and explain rules, regulations, policies and procedures
- Wide range of physical movement
- Communicate effectively using speech, vision, and hearing
- Use of hands for simple grasping and fine manipulations
- Bending, squatting, reaching, with the ability to lift, carry, push or pull light weights
- Requires indoor and outdoor activity
