Job Summary
Provide small-group and one-on-one academic support in math and reading, mentor students to encourage social and emotional growth, and help redirect behaviors to foster a supportive classroom environment. Assist teachers with instructional strategies, support school-wide initiatives, and collaborate with staff to address student needs. Participate in professional development training led by community leaders. Serve an average of 35 hours per week from 7:45 AM to 3:15 PM across assigned schools in Pittsburgh, with schedules varying based on school needs. This role is part of a year-long AmeriCorps service term designed to improve student outcomes and strengthen the community fabric.
Required Qualifications
- 17 years of age (with parental permission) or older
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
- High school diploma/GED
- Able to pass criminal background check
