HC Laundry Worker

Job Summary

Collect, sort, wash, dry, fold, and deliver terry linens and personal items while keeping residents' clothing neat, orderly, and wrinkle-free. Maintain a clean and fresh laundry environment, complete assigned work orders, and ensure all areas are cleaned according to schedule. Follow infection control and chemical safety protocols, maintain equipment, and complete daily documentation checklists. Work independently and as a team, prioritizing resident needs including emergency situations, while attending assigned training sessions.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • Ability to perform simple arithmetic
  • Ability to use a cash register and make change
  • Ability to bend, stoop, twist, push pull carts and other physical movements
  • Ability to communicate with, understand, empathize with, work with and be tolerant of residents, families, visitors, peers, supervisors, and subordinates
  • Ability to perform duties in a timely manner consistent with the needs of the residents and assigned schedules
  • Ability to understand and effectively support and apply DRV policies and procedures
  • Ability to communicate effectively with seniors, their guests and DRV staff members
  • Ability to work with chemicals safely
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Good oral and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions in English

  • Ability to appropriately prioritize and organize multiple tasks/projects
  • Ability to deal tactfully and pleasantly with residents, families, staff, community resources, visitors and the general public

  • Ability to maintain a professional appearance in compliance with facility personal appearance guidelines
  • Ability to read instructions, safety rules, manuals and resident rosters in English
  • Ability to recognize multiple resident laundry needs and prioritize actions to meet those needs, including emergency situations
  • Ability to use problem solving skills
  • Ability to follow guidelines and policies as outlined in employee policies and procedures handbook
  • Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift and move throughout the facility and local community during workday
  • Ability to lift and transfer up to fifty pounds
  • Ability to push carts and pull barrels
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed, involved instructions
  • Ability to perform duties under stress when confronted with emergency, critical, unusual or dangerous situations or when working speed and sustained attention are critical aspects of this job
