Job Summary
Conduct hazardous waste clean-up, site-remediation, and equipment decontamination while operating light and heavy equipment and using various powered industrial tools. Wear and properly use personal protective equipment including respirators, skin, face, hand, and foot protection in all weather conditions. Perform field sampling activities, assist in calibration of meters, and inspect drums for container integrity and regulatory compliance. Safely load and unload hazardous and non-hazardous waste, climb ladders and scaffolding, and operate vehicles in accordance with U.S. DOT requirements. Follow all local, state, and federal compliance regulations and attend safety update meetings. Be on call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week, with potential weekend and holiday work extending shifts up to 24 hours. Complete two-week Academy training out of state at company expense.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Driver's license and reliable transportation
- Ability to perform physical functions per Key Responsibilities
- Successfully complete a background check, drug test, and physical
- Per OSHA's Respiratory Protection standard, 29 CFR 1910.34, employees in positions requiring respirators are required to meet facial hair standards
- Previous relevant labor experience
- Agreeing to be on-call for emergency response on a rotating basis every other week
- Agreeing to work on weekends and holidays
- Agreeing to emergency response situations extending beyond 8 hours, up to 12-24 hrs
