HazMat Field Driver/Technician - CDL (A)

Job Summary

Transport hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams using Class A trucks, including tractor-trailers, roll-offs, and tankers, while performing LTL pickups and straight truck operations. Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections, maintain driver documents such as logbooks and manifests, and ensure compliance with DOT regulations, weight limits, and HAZMAT placarding. Interact with customers to ensure satisfaction and assist with facility housekeeping. Operate Monday through Friday with variable scheduling that may include 3-4 overnight shifts per week, with most weekends and holidays off. Requires a valid Class A CDL with hazardous material and tanker endorsements.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid class A commercial driver's license
  • Hazardous material endorsement
  • Tanker endorsement
  • Ability to get endorsement(s) within 90 days from hire date
  • MVR that meets Company policy standards
  • Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER Training upon hire
  • Ability to lift heavy objects
  • Ability to perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading materials
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to follow instructions accurately
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Ability to stay focused
  • Ability to handle multiple, diverse responsibilities
  • Must be available for 3-4 overnight shifts per week
  • Must be available for most weekends and holidays
  • Must be available for occasional exceptions for critical business needs
  • Must be available for Monday through Friday
  • Must be able to operate a Tractor Trailer
  • Must be able to pull roll off trailers
  • Must be able to pull tanker trailers
  • Must be able to pull van trailers
  • Must be able to perform pickups of bulk and containerized hazardous and non-hazardous waste
  • Must be able to drive a straight truck on a periodic basis
  • Must understand DOT regulations as they pertain to hazardous waste collection, packaging and transportation
  • Must understand accurate placarding
  • Must understand loading securement
  • Must understand HAZMAT load segregation
  • Must understand labeling
  • Must understand state weight limit laws
  • Must operate a vehicle in a safe manner abiding by laws and regulations
  • Must understand and utilize company technology, such as mobile applications and software maintenance
  • Must perform DOT / MOT pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Must effectively interact and communicate with customers
  • Must assist in maintaining good housekeeping at the facility and on the grounds
  • Must participate in the Site Safety program
  • Must complete required training
