Job Summary
Monitor incubator conditions for temperature, humidity, and airflow; perform routine health checks on eggs and hatchlings; implement biosecurity measures to prevent contamination. Assist in handling and transporting stock while documenting hatch rates and environmental observations. Execute daily equipment setup, dismantling, and sanitization to maintain operational readiness. Collaborate with team members on cleanliness, fill in for absent staff, and guide new hires on safety protocols and procedures. Work varied shifts including nights, holidays, and weekends in high-temperature environments.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED
- Basic understanding of animal and husbandry practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Experience in a hatchery or similar agricultural environment
- Knowledge of avian species and their care requirements
- Familiarity of biosecurity protocols and practices
- 1 or more years of production or manufacturing environment
- Poultry or food industry experience
- Proficiency in using temperature and humidity monitoring equipment
- Basic computer skills for documentation and reporting
- Strong to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Ability to adapt to changing condition and work under pressure
- A proactive attitude and a commitment to quality and safety
- Effective communication both orally and in writing
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Must not raise any poultry or birds
- Must be able to work in high-temperature environments (100+°F)
- Must be able to tolerate odors
- Must be able to handle repetitive lifting/pushing of 50 lbs or more with continuous physical activity
- Must be available for varied shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends
- Must be able to fill in for absent team members
- Must be able to guide and train staff
- Must be able to assist with safety monitoring
- Must be able to lead in addressing questions or concerns
- Must be able to participate in egg set, chick processing, cross training, and training guide development
- Must be able to work Monday-Friday 5am-2pm (subject to change)
- Must pass drug, alcohol, and background checks
- Must be able to verify employment eligibility by the end of the third day of work
Desired Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED preferred
- Poultry or food industry experience is a plus
