Job Summary
Provide specialized instruction in self-contained classrooms for students whose educational needs are not met by a general education environment. Develops, implements, and annually reviews Individualized Education Programs (IEPs); maintains records of student performance and IEP progress. Collaborates with an interdisciplinary team; conducts periodic parent conferences and home visits; ensures compliance with Special Education procedures and regulations. Preferred candidates may hold Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License endorsements and have prior public school teaching experience. Training in Mandt methodology and knowledge of evidence-based practices for instructing students with autism are highly valued. The role offers a 10-month contract with the potential for additional compensation for approved advanced degrees.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Ability to obtain appropriate license(s) and/or endorsement(s) as required by the Commonwealth of Virginia and School Board
- An acceptable rating of prior teaching experience, as applicable
