Job Summary
Casual Harm Reduction Support Worker delivering low-barrier harm-reduction education and interventions to individuals accessing services, including overdose prevention and Naloxone administration. Responsibilities include harm reduction supply distribution, crisis response, safer substance use and safer sex education, referrals to health and support services, maintaining confidential records, coordinating with partner agencies, supporting peer groups, and contributing to program planning and evaluation. Requires a Diploma in health or social services (or equivalent) and at least two years of harm reduction experience, First Aid, and strong communication skills within a trauma-informed, client-centered framework. Position based in the Comox Valley (Courtenay) with in-person work; pay starts at $33.49/hour with BCGEU alignment, casual hours, and potential increases based on seniority.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma in health or social services (Social Work, Psychology, Mental Health & Addictions Support Worker, etc.), or equivalent combination of education and work/lived experience.
- Minimum of two years’ experience working within harm reduction settings.
- First Aid training and experience responding to critical incidents, including overdose.
