Job Summary

Develop requirements-based hardware verification plans and execute qualification testing of display processors, HUD hardware, and printed board assemblies at the board and LRU level. Perform verification of NVIS-compatible and non-NVIS configurations, including backlight brightness limiting and optical performance metrics. Support environmental and EMI/EMC qualification testing per RTCA DO-160, conduct delta-qualification for component obsolescence, and perform root-cause analysis of hardware issues found during verification. Generate test reports and certification artifacts supporting DO-254 compliance while collaborating with design, systems, and software engineers to close out requirements verification. This role requires hybrid work in Phoenix, AZ, with U.S. citizenship or permanent resident status.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Hardware V&V / test engineering in aerospace or avionics (board- and LRU-level)
  • Requirements-based verification and test procedure development
  • Working knowledge of DO-254 (Design Assurance for Airborne Electronic Hardware)
  • Working knowledge of RTCA DO-160 qualification/environmental test methods
  • Strong troubleshooting, debug, and root-cause analysis skills with standard lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, DMMs, power supplies)
  • Solid understanding of digital and analog circuit fundamentals, signal integrity, and hardware test methodologies
  • Ability to read schematics and work from hardware requirements and design specifications
  • Self-motivated with the initiative to engage a distributed, multi-site team and drive tasks to closure
  • U.S. citizenship or permanent residency (export control / ITAR)
  • Hybrid work in Phoenix, AZ

Desired Qualifications

  • Avionics display experience: display processors, LCD/legacy display units, or Head-Up Displays (HUD)
  • NVIS compatibility testing and requirements (e.g., MIL-STD-3009 / MIL-L-85762A), including backlight/luminance control verification
  • Photometric and optical measurement of displays (luminance, chromaticity, contrast)
  • Experience with obsolescence-driven redesign, delta-qual, and part substitution/requalification
  • Product/LRU and PBA design verification and qualification experience
  • Familiarity with DO-178 and hardware/software integration testing
  • Experience in adoption and/or integration of emerging technologies (e.g., generative AI, automation platforms, digital assistants) into day-to-day operations for continuous improvement
  • Avionics video, optical, and I/O interfaces (e.g., ARINC 818, ARINC 429, high-speed serial) a plus
  • NVIS measurement/test equipment and photometers a plus
  • Mathcad, LTspice, Microsoft Excel (analysis and data reduction)
  • Change tracking (JIRA or similar)
  • Safety-critical design and certification awareness
