Job Summary
Troubleshoot malfunctioning specialized classified equipment using diagnostic software to pinpoint root causes of hardware failure. Perform precise mechanical and electrical repairs, including micro-soldering, capacitor replacement, and screen fixes. Disassemble devices, clean internal components, reapply thermal paste, and reassemble units to factory standards. Run post-repair benchmarks and stress tests to ensure stability before redeployment. Maintain organized inventory of spare parts, request components for ordering, and document all parts used in the ticketing system. Adhere strictly to Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) safety protocols and guidelines for handling hazardous materials like damaged lithium-ion batteries. Requires current TS/SCI clearance with polygraph, ability to lift 40 pounds, and proficiency with precision hand tools and soldering equipment.
Required Qualifications
- 1+ years of experience
- high school diploma or equivalent
- Proficiency with precision hand tools, test equipment, soldering irons, heat guns, and rework stations
- Deep knowledge of internal device anatomy (E.g. motherboards, power supplies, logic boards, LCD panels)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, board views, and technical repair manuals
- Solid understanding of ESD safety procedures and proper chemical usage (e.g., Isopropyl alcohol, flux)
- Must have a current/active TS/SCI w/ Poly
- Must be able to move and lift 40 pounds
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%
- Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity for handling microscopic or fragile components
- Strong attention to detail; ability to work under a microscope or magnifying lamp for extended periods
Desired Qualifications
- Technical school degree or certifications in electronics/computer repair
- CompTIA A+
- IPC A-610 or IPC-7711/7721 (Soldering/Rework Certifications)
- Apple Certified Macintosh Technician (ACMT) / Vendor-specific repair certs (Dell, HP, Lenovo)
