Hardware/Production Engineer

Job Summary
Assemble, test, and calibrate stationary and handheld methane detectors while running incoming inspection and quality checks. Maintain test fixtures, calibration setups, and work instructions, then repair returned units and track fault causes. Support material availability, supplier questions, and production planning, while assisting customer sites with installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting. Translate line and field observations into design-for-manufacturability decisions during design reviews. This role reports to the Head of Hardware and involves occasional travel for field deployments. The team builds hardware and software to make methane emissions visible for the energy sector.
Required Qualifications
- Apprenticeship or degree in electrical engineering, mechatronics, or similar
- Hands-on experience with electronics assembly, soldering, or hardware testing
- Comfortable with test equipment (multimeter, oscilloscope, power supply) and basic troubleshooting
- Structured and reliable with documentation — test protocols, serial numbers, revisions
- Willingness to travel occasionally for field deployments
- Fluent in German and English
Desired Qualifications
- Experience in a small-series or startup production environment
- Familiarity with an ERP system (we use Odoo)
- Exposure to gas measurement, sensor calibration, or ATEX/explosion-protected equipment
