Job Summary
Hardware Operator II is responsible for the most complex setup and installation of hardware on parts using hardware presses and dedicated tooling. Responsibilities include setting up tooling and auto-feed for complex jobs, installing press-fit hardware, PEMs, Southco fasteners, nutserts, rivets, and Helicoils, and reading blueprints to verify correct installation heights with dial calipers. The role requires selecting appropriate tooling, potentially performing setups for less skilled operators, maintaining part handling for quality assembly, and keeping the work area organized and safe. Strong reading/writing in English, blueprint interpretation, basic arithmetic, and the ability to distinguish metal types are essential. Physical tasks may involve up to 50 pounds of force occasionally. Location: San Jose, CA ( onsite ).
Required Qualifications
- 2-year hardware experience installing hardware in precision sheet metal parts
- Ability to read and write and understand written documents in English
- Read and correctly interpret blueprints
- Use of dial calipers to measure material thickness, hardware types, and hardware installation heights
- Knowledge of hardware types including thread pitches both standard and metric, most PEM hardware types, plus familiarity with Nutserts, Helicoils, Southco HW, and rivets
